The past couple of weeks on Lake Okeechobee have been fantastic. We are now coming off the week of the full moon and the big fish were moving in to spawn. The winds have been from the North/ Northeast from 5-10 mph and the water clarity is good throughout the lake.
The best bait is still fishing with wild shiners but you can catch some good fish with artificial baits: Topwater, Jerk baits and Senko’s on the grass flats are working well. Good areas to fish are Grassy Island, Kings Bar, The Pass and the Lakeport area of the lake. You can check the water level of Lake Okeechobee at www.okeechobeejust4bass.com. Here is a picture of a couple of fish that I caught this past week.
