The last couple of weeks on Lake Okeechobee the winds have been light and the water temp has been in the high 80’s. The lack of rain has dropped the lake level to 12.08ft but the fish are still biting. The water clarity on the East side of the lake is OK, the North end is good and the West end is OK.
The best bait has been a White Swim Jig and a Spinnerbait in the Kissimmee Grass first thing in the morning, but this bite is over by 07:30. At that point you need to Flip – Pitch the Pencil Reeds for the rest of the day with a Jig. Now with the lower water I have been fishing the Kissimmee River with a Crankbait with some really good success. Here is a picture with a couple of fish I caught this week.
