Independently Owned & Operated, Lake Okeechobee Professional Bass Guide Service

This week on Lake Okeechobee, the beginning of the week drew light winds but by Thursday night we received the first real bad cold front of the year with winds up to 25mph from the North/North West. The water temp high is now 76 degrees. The water clarity on the East side of the lake is not good now and with all the wind it’s real hard to fish some areas of the lake.
The Shiner fishing is the best thing going on right now. I am catching over 30 fish in a 4 hour charter and have had some better fish up to 5 lbs. On the artificial side, the best baits in the morning have been Topwater, Swim Jigs and a Spinnerbait. Fish these baits in the open water where it is a little deeper and look for the Hydrilla. In the afternoon I have been flipping a Penney Wart in Water Hyacinth with a (1oz.) Gambler Craw Daddy in Black/Blue. This week with all the wind we had, good areas to fish were Taylor Creek, Government Cut, The Pass and Sportsman Cut.
Here is a picture of one of the nicer fish that I caught this week. You can check the water levels of Lake Okeechobee at www.okeechobeejust4bass.com.
